Engineering Operations Director

Location: Corporate HQ (with oversight of multiple remote sites across the U.S.)

Boden Talent is proud to be supporting a global client in their search for a highly experienced Engineering Operations Director. This pivotal leadership role will be responsible for developing and guiding a high-performing team tasked with overseeing MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems and ensuring consistent quality control across a national portfolio.

This position sits within the Engineering and Technical Services function, with accountability for preventive maintenance, system support, and operational excellence across corporate and remote facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial performance of the business unit and lead operational strategy.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including client engagement, proposals, and presentations.
• Approve contractor and subcontractor hiring in line with facility needs; implement structured bidding processes for contract maintenance.
• Direct daily operations of facility controls and asset management systems.
• Approve and manage annual operating budgets.
• Provide formal leadership and supervision to staff, including performance evaluations, training, and development planning.
• Coordinate daily team activities: manage schedules, assign responsibilities, set goals, and promote cross-training.
• Act as a cultural leader and role model, inspiring accountability and alignment with the company's values and strategic goals.
• Build alignment across functions and stakeholders, including external partners and vendors.
• Resolve complex, multi-layered operational and organizational challenges with creativity and leadership.
• Continuously drive improvements in processes, systems, and standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; candidates with significant hands-on engineering leadership experience are also strongly considered.
• Strong foundation in building operations, including relevant certifications such as FDNY Refrigeration Operators License COQ, High Pressure Steam License.
• Demonstrated responsibility for critical systems such as generators, ATSs, UPS, static switches, and chiller plants.
• Deep knowledge of emergency power and data center environments.
• Strong leadership in team development: hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience overseeing and managing large departmental budgets.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and negotiate with external stakeholders to align business goals.
