As an Engineering Manager, you will lead our U.S. Engineering Team, seamlessly integrating customer-specific technical needs with our global product design organizations located in Spain, Poland, and India. This role requires a hands-on leader with a systems-oriented approach, excellent coordination skills, application knowledge, and outstanding people management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary U.S. engineering team including Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software, and Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Define goals, allocate resources, and ensure team alignment with project and organizational priorities.

  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development planning.

  • Act as the technical liaison between U.S. operations and the Design Engineering teams in Spain, Poland, and India.

  • Coordinate engineering inputs for customer bids, design reviews, and validation processes.

  • Collaborate with Project Management, Field Service, Quality, and Production teams to address technical issues and support smooth project execution.

  • Lead the local engineering response to customer escalations, warranty topics, and design feedback loops.

  • Establish U.S.-based design ownership by defining technical direction and product requirements locally, while coordinating execution through global engineering centers.

  • Oversee application engineering activities such as vehicle integration, interface definition, and system compatibility.

  • Drive field testing, troubleshooting, and local validation of products on customer equipment.

  • Manage engineering change requests, documentation updates, and support sustaining engineering tasks like obsolescence or component substitutions.

  • Experience with electronics, transit, railcar systems.

  • Customer relationship management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (Master's preferred, Systems Engineering preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering, with at least 2-3 years in a technical leadership or management role.

  • Experience in electronics and/or telecommunications systems is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle, system testing, and sustaining engineering practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects in a global context.

Work Environment

Located near Ballston Spa, NY, the work environment is a manufacturing setting with standard hours Monday through Friday, either 8am-4:30pm or 7am-3:30pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
