Job Title: Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Sheet Metal Panel Design Engineer/Manager to join our innovative design and fabrication team. This role is integral to the creation of custom architectural metal panel systems, including ornamental facades, cladding panels, soffits, and other decorative metal elements; both as standalone systems and when incorporated into custom curtainwall systems.
As the Design Engineering Manager – Architectural Sheet Metal Panels, you will combine artistic creativity with subject matter expertise in technical engineering skills to conceptualize, design, and document unique metal solutions for high-end architectural projects. You will work closely with architects, project managers, façade designers, supply chain, estimators, and fabricators to bring concept to reality through efficient, compliant, and manufacturable design.
Role and Responsibilities:
Design, Engineering & Preconstruction Project Pursuit
- Lead and produce the development of concept design during bid and preconstruction efforts.
- Lead and produce design documentation and advise manufacturability (inhouse or outside vendors).
- Provide oversight during development of shop drawings, production modelling and submittals for architectural metal panel systems with balance of façade systems using AutoCAD, Inventor, and related software with modelling and drafting teams as required to ensure concept vision to finished product is aligned.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, internal teams, and outside vendors to integrate custom panel solutions into the overall building envelope systems.
- Assist in developing system visual and performance mockups where required.
- Interpret architectural drawings and specifications to develop accurate and code-compliant design solutions.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Lead company arranged educational opportunities to share experience and enhance company knowledge of architectural sheet metal design, engineering, manufacturing etc.
Technical & Fabrication Support
- Assist in the fabrication, modification, and installation of sheet metal parts, components, and assemblies as needed to ensure systems are fully developed, integrated and manufacturable.
- Provide design support to the shop and estimating teams, responding to RFIs and assisting with project coordination.
- Troubleshoot design and production issues during fabrication and installation phases.
- Maintain knowledge of metal properties, finishing options, and fabrication techniques including CNC routing, laser cutting, graining, welding, and bending.
Project Management & Coordination
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate design delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of revisions, approvals, and changes throughout the design process.
- Ensure closeout documents and maintenance manuals reflect design and material limitations for warranty fulfilment.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in architectural sheet metal, ornamental metalwork, or rainscreen panel system design.
- 5+ years in customer facing responsible roles for design & engineering concept to fulfilment coordination with architects, building envelope consultants, general contractors and/or developers.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modelling tools (Inventor, SolidWorks or similar).
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, material properties, and architectural design integration.
- Ability to interpret and generate technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication documents.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience with CNC programming, laser cutting, and precision sheet metal fabrication work (aluminum, steel, stainless steel, bronze, exotic prefinished metals, titanium etc.).
- Understanding of scanning software and 3D visualization tools.
- Knowledge of building codes, rainscreen cladding systems, and performance testing standards.
- Experience with architectural sheet metal.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and regulatory compliance in building product industries.
