Job PurposeMaintains, develops, and supports assigned engineering department. Responsible for managing a team of engineers working on design, development, integration, implementation, and testing of Progress Rail products, including manufactured parts, electrical systems, core engine components, locomotive controls, software, etc.

Key Job Elements

• Manage a team of engineering personnel to ensure product quality and reliability;
• Develop project plans and technical solutions for engineering development projects;
• Measure project performance using project management tools;
• Work with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality engineers to resolve manufacturing and quality issues;
• Define project scope and objectives; maintain stakeholder relationships;
• Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and cost;
• Perform risk management to minimize potential risks;
• Coordinate with managers to acquire resources and meet project requirements;
• Forecast team workload and develop resource strategies;
• Review technical documents and provide guidance on design iterations;
• Manage team training and personnel development;
• Lead executive-sponsored programs supporting the company's vision;
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education / Training

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

• 7+ years in mechanical engineering related to the rail industry;
• Experience in project management and managing engineering teams;
• Knowledge of embedded systems, system engineering, and industry standards;
• Proficiency in various engineering and project management tools;
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office and technical reading.

Physical Activities and Work Environment

• Work in an office with occasional visits to industrial environments;
• Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds;
• Exposure to noise and temperature variations during site visits;
• High responsibility and interpersonal skills required.
