Intec Automation, Inc., a well-established automation company with over 25 years of business experience, is seeking a senior-level design engineer to contribute to our continued growth. Located in Rochester, NH, we specialize in designing and constructing custom automation equipment, with a focus on the medical and life science industries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex custom automation solutions from concept to completion. As an Engineer, Design III specializing in custom automation, you will lead the design and development of advanced automation solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Leveraging your expertise in mechanical engineering and CAD modeling, you will drive the creation of innovative automation systems that accomplish all requirement specifications from both customer and internal standards. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure seamless integration of mechanical, and electrical components, delivering robust and efficient solutions that optimize productivity and quality of the manufacturing process. Key Responsibilities:

* Design and Development: Lead the design and development of custom automation systems, including concept generation, detailed design, prototyping, and testing phases.

* Technical Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including kinematics, dynamics, strength of materials, and thermodynamics, to develop robust and efficient automation solutions.

* CAD Modeling: Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings of machine components and systems.

* Component Selection: Select appropriate materials, components, and technologies to meet project requirements, considering factors such as performance, cost, and manufacturability.

* Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components in automation systems.

* Prototyping and Testing: Lead the fabrication of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate design performance, identify potential issues, and iterate on design improvements.

* Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, assembly instructions, and BOMs, to support manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance activities.

* Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

* Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in automation engineering, and proactively identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization.

* Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional development and cultivating a culture of excellence within the engineering team.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

* Minimum of 7 years of experience in machine design and automation engineering, with a focus on custom automation solutions.

* Complete system-level design experience of automation machinery is a critical requirement for this role.

* Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or similar platforms, and familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Finite Element Analysis) preferred.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and optimize design performance.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

* Proven project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively.

* Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
