Title: 1436518 - Engine Calibration Engineer – Emissions, Drivability & Fuel Economy Focus
Job Description:
- The Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing the optimal engine calibration to meet LEVIII/IV emissions standard while optimizing drivability and fuel economy.
Responsibilities:
- The engineer is responsible for the calibration maturity and development of sub features resulting in an overall optimal propulsion system.
- This spans the entirety of the lifecycle of development through conceptual phase, strategy development, calibration execution to subsystem and vehicle level validation including robustness evaluations.
- The responsibilities will be carried out across all different types of propulsion system concepts and will include varying levels of electrification.
- The work will coincide with a team of calibration engineers and functions to deliver system level functional objectives mainly related to emissions compliance.
- The engineer will plan and coordinate daily activities of propulsion dynos and vehicle related testing which may include collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated 5+ years of work experience in the area of spark ignition engine controls and calibration
- Strong familiarities related to engine system development including related technologies and subsystems such as combustion, valvetrain, fuel system, boost systems, EGR systems, aftertreatment systems, controls and its algorithm including diagnostics
- Feature calibration experience with exposure to optimizing driveability, emissions, and fuel economy
- Experience in launching applications meeting US based ACC/ACCII standards and regulations as well as ROW markets including (Enlarged Europe, APAC, LATAM)
- Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data providing meaningful summaries and next steps
- Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills and able to create and present information in a clear and concise manner to colleagues and management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Demonstrated 1+ years of experience in leading product applications conforming to US based ACC/ACCII standards and regulations as well as ROW markets (Enlarged Europe, Asian Pacific, South America)
- DFSS green belt or higher
- Execution of Problem solving techniques (RedX, Six Sigma, 3L5W, Kaizen, 5S)
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
