Purpose
The Energy Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the correct installation of designed building automation systems, assisting controls installation contractors with issues/questions, controls startup and checkout procedures, controls communication verification, controls system testing and operational verification, developing/implementing controls programming, developing graphics for equipment, and conducting controls system training on controls systems.
Responsibilities
Support & Programming- Write system-specific application programming.
- Develop physical and virtual point databases.
- Conduct point-by-point check-outs and system start-ups.
- Develop graphics.
- Set up panel-to-panel communications.
- Set up EMS operator workstation to client network communications.
- Set up remote access communications.
- Configure reporting and alarming functions.
Maintenance & Assistance- Work with the Performance Assurance Administrator to ensure EMS functions are in place.
- Review, inspect, test, and document HVAC, control, lighting, and other systems performance.
- Perform troubleshooting of building performance issues.
- Assist the Service Group in resolving EMS problems on service agreements.
- Assist Engineering in analyzing existing facilities and developing solutions.
Commission & Optimization- Commission and optimize building systems for peak performance.
- Repeat optimization for three seasons post-initial commissioning.
Communication & Collaboration- Communicate with clients regarding projects.
- Provide EMS training to clients.
- Assist Performance Services employees with projects.

Working Conditions
- Work primarily at PSI's main office.
- Overnight travel may be required.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/Experience
- Minimum of 2-year technical degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years HVAC experience as a Control Technician.
- Service background preferred.
- Experience with K-12 schools preferred.
- Engineering experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Employees must occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent lifting/moving up to 10 pounds; occasional up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Management may modify duties as needed.
