Job Description :

a.i. solutions is seeking a motivated Electromagnetic Compatibility/Radio Frequency/Ionizing Radiation (EMC/RF/IR) engineer to join the team supporting the NASA Launch Service Program at Kennedy Space Center. The Avionics Engineer will be assigned to the Vehicle Engineering and Analysis (VE&A) department, performing tasks related to commercial launch vehicle systems and supporting our NASA customer. The position involves working directly with spacecraft and launch vehicle providers to ensure mission and vehicle requirements are properly implemented through review and independent verification. The individual will also ensure NASA maintains insight into launch vehicle capabilities and exercises approval authority on applicable deliverables and analyses. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed customer expectations.

Essential Roles, Responsibilities, and Skills:

  • Familiarity with electromagnetic and physics concepts to execute electromagnetic compatibility, ionizing radiation, and RF link analyses as applied to payload and launch vehicle integration
  • Perform electromagnetic modeling, intermodulation analysis, and antenna, transmitter, and receiver characteristics analyses
  • Knowledge of grounding, bonding, wiring practices, induced lightning effects, static charging, and RF environments at launch sites
  • Understanding of space weather and ionizing radiation effects on hardware design and survivability, using tools like AP8, AP9, NOVICE, EMA3D Charge, and CREME96
  • Write and review EMC Control plans; evaluate test data per standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1541, MIL-STD-464, and NASA-STD-4003A
  • Conduct electromagnetic safety margin analysis; evaluate electroexplosive devices and critical circuits
  • Participate in requirements development, review, and maintenance
  • Review Interface Control Documents and mission-related documents
  • Act as liaison between NASA and launch vehicle providers
  • Support and present technical assessments at mission reviews and Engineering Review Boards
  • Provide flight design certification support for new launch service providers
  • Support process improvement activities
  • Travel as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in electromagnetic compatibility, ionizing radiation, and RF link analyses or related fields
  • Familiarity with computational electromagnetic tools such as EMA3D, CST, FEKO, WiPL-D, P-Spice, HFSS
  • Ability to successfully complete a government background check
