University employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes excellent healthcare, retirement plans, tuition assistance, paid time off, and a winter recess.POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Development and Alumni Communications Email Manager advances Case Western Reserve University's mission by helping communicate with donors, alumni, families and friends of the university through compelling, visually appealing, user-friendly and effective emails and electronic newsletters. The individual will apply industry-leading practices in email design and content that also comply with the university's brand standards as well as digital accessibility standards. This individual will support the university's development and alumni communication efforts and build some of the university's most significant emails geared toward engaging our graduates, donors, and prospective connections. This individual also will support the university's efforts to ensure that Case Western Reserve's online presence reflects the stature and excellence of the teaching, learning and research that take place on its campus.Essential Functions
- Work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team to plan, edit and create email content for alumni, donors, families, and friends of Case Western Reserve. Work with departments across the university, including in alumni/development roles in the schools, to schedule email communications based on performance, overarching alumni and development communications strategy, and cross-university email timing conflicts. Be an expert on email best practices, list maintenance, trends, and CAN-SPAM compliance laws. (35%)
- Present edited copy and draft designs to clients and articulate clear rationale for editing and design choices and how they support functionality, usability, and email accessibility standards. Listen to and consider ways to integrate feedback and then consult with the team members regarding next steps. Adjust and adapt emails to respond to data provided through analytics, user feedback and other information regarding user experiences. (20%)
- Use the data and tools available within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including using SQL queries, AMPscript and HTML, to personalize content for audiences. Analyze trends and email results to understand content that performs (or underperforms) and adjust content accordingly. Create and administer ongoing campaigns for testing subject lines, sender names, formats and messaging. Work with the data in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to measure, understand and ensure inbox placement. Develop and communicate best practices documentation for internal distribution and training. (15%)
- Collaborate with the web, email and design teams to ensure email designs are engaging, effective and accessible. Work with client relations to transform print materials into effective email communications, while ensuring alignment with accessibility and brand standards for Case Western Reserve emails. Find appropriate, engaging photography to draw in audiences. (10%)
- Write and produce email newsletters for the Alumni Association of Case Western Reserve University, including affiliate chapters and interest groups. Responsibilities include interviewing alumni, writing profiles, developing related social media content, and ensuring placement of newsletters on the alumni website. (10%)
Nonessential Functions
Write and maintain content for the university's bicentennial and campaign websites, including developing alumni and donor profiles as requested by the executive director. Create accompanying social media content and ensure alignment with university branding and messaging standards. (5%)Manage emails to donors, alumni and individuals invited to external events for the Office of the President. (5%)Perform other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONSGeneral office environment. Will perform repetitive motion using computer mouse and keyboard. On rare, emergency situations, evening or weekend hours required.This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department.
