Job Description :

Must provide a well-rounded reception for clients seeking assistance and/or information. The worker is expected to carry out task assignments that may include greeting, assessment, verifications, determination of eligibility, and managing the central client file system. Work volume may increase during peak seasons, requiring flexible scheduling and adaptation to ongoing changes, funding issues, and compliance measures. Responsibilities include answering phones, faxing, copying, and maintaining a clean reception area. Performance will be evaluated annually for accuracy, completeness, and neatness.

Key duties include:

  • Greeting and assisting applicants and visitors courteously.
  • Communicating clearly and writing legibly.
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and directing calls.
  • Assessing client eligibility professionally.
  • Adhering to a 30-minute appointment schedule per client or as directed.
  • Participating in field rotations to satellite offices.
  • Maintaining a case determination error margin of 25% or less.
  • Following instructions to assess client needs and program qualifications accurately.
  • Attending all required trainings.
  • Responding to community needs and reporting referral outcomes.
  • Providing public information as instructed.
  • Maintaining organized filing systems and handling clerical tasks.
  • Typing, proofreading, and preparing reports weekly.
  • Maintaining good attendance and complying with personnel policies.
  • Keeping lobby, restroom, office, and satellite areas clean and safe.
  • Performing duties assigned by supervisors or the Executive Director.
  • Qualifications include:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Experience with social service programs preferred.
    • Experience in eligibility determination and strong math skills.
    • Excellent public relations skills and a passion for working with people.
    • Ability to follow instructions and be bilingual (oral and written).
    • Computer knowledge for data entry.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

    • Valid Texas Drivers License.
    • Liability insurance while employed.

    Additional skills include knowledge of English, spelling, arithmetic, office procedures, and departmental regulations. Organizational skills, self-motivation, and adaptability are essential. Duties may change based on service needs.
