JOB GOAL: To help students resolve such discipline problems that may interfere with their getting the greatest benefit from the school's educational opportunities and to help them achieve the fullest benefits from the school's nonacademic programs, services, and offerings. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Shares with the Principal the responsibility for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the students. 2. Oversees all matters of student attendance and discipline. 3. Counsels individual students, and when necessary makes appropriate referrals for testing, guidance or psychological counseling. 4. Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student's life in the school. 5. Resolves all discipline problems is a fair and just manner and maintains records of any disciplinary action taken. 6. Supervises the registration, classification, scheduling and testing of students. 7. Participates in the coordination, implementation and supervision of co-curricular activities. 8. Assists in the interpretation of school and district programs, policies and procedures to students, parents, staff and community. 9. Works with community and government agencies on problems relating to drug abuse and truancy from school. 10. Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security. 11. Assists with campus supervision. 12. Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel and students on matters of discipline, welfare, and safety. 13. Confers with and make appropriate referrals to psychologists, social workers and other personnel. 14. Supervises development, maintenance and distribution of student calendars, handbooks, schedules, bulletins and the like. 15. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements 1. Certified according to Arizona State Department of Education Certification Requirements. 2. Bilingual or ESL or SEI required. 3. Master's Degree in Education preferred. 4. Three years of successful teaching experience. 5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 6.
