ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

1. Understands how to identify and use data to support school improvement.

2. Ability to manage and facilitate change.

3. Demonstrates a deep understanding of the PLC process and MTSS framework.

4. Successful experience in a leadership role is preferred.

5. Works effectively in a team environment where decisions are based on improving student learning.

6. Demonstrates a working understanding of the Essential Standards for K-8.

7. Promotes high expectations, performance, and achievement from students and staff.

8. Operates in an efficient, flexible, and responsive manner to accommodate a variety of needs.

9. Demonstrates the ability to work with people in a leadership capacity, while motivating others in an atmosphere that embraces continuous improvement.

10. Demonstrates a willingness to participate in department, building, and district leadership roles.

11. Implements effective school practices through shared decision making.

12. Works effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.

13. Demonstrates strong communication skills (oral and written).

14. Works collaboratively with staff, students, and community in all aspects of school life.

15. Demonstrates knowledge and use of effective instruction.

16. Possesses strong leadership skills in working effectively with groups and individuals.

17. Possesses a positive, motivating, and caring attitude toward students and all district employees.

18. Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to work within established timelines.

20. Works constructively with behaviorally challenged students.

21. Demonstrates experience with student management, discipline, and restorative practices.

22. Possesses knowledge of current laws governing special education and 504 students.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works with staff, community, and students in advancing educational goals.

2. Assumes principal's responsibilities in the absence of the building principal.

3. Assists the principal in the areas of organization, instructional program, budget, school improvement plan, and staff development.

4. Processes student disciplinary actions, personnel actions, and/or related matters for the purpose of documenting such actions and adhering to district policies and/or education code.

5. Adheres to and implements District policies and procedures and negotiated agreements.

6. Assists with the selection, supervision, and evaluation of staff performance.

7. Provides supervision of students at events, including evening activities.

8. Facilitates the on-going development of positive student behavior including resolving student discipline issues. Serves as a resource for behavior management.

9. Provides support for students' social/emotional needs.

10. Enforces current laws governing special education and 504 students.

11. Facilitates the development and implementation of specific student learning and behavior plans/interventions.

12. Coordinates various programs including academic testing, assessment, student guidance, student attendance, community services, and others as assigned.

13. Operates in an efficient, flexible, and responsible manner to accommodate a variety of needs.

14. Contributes to District goals and activities.

15. Promotes high expectations, performance. and achievement from students and staff.

16. Prepares various written documents (correspondence, reports, analyses, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.

17. Models integrity, ethical behavior, self-confidence, courage, and a sense of humor.

18. Creates unity and respect in all relationships.

19. Represents the school at community events for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issued related to school environment.

20. Recommends policies, procedures, and/or actions for the purpose of providing school district personnel with directions and/or data for decision making.

21. Works collaboratively with the principal and staff to implement School Improvement Plan.

22. Participates in administrative meetings, negotiation meetings, board meetings, and other such meetings as required.

23. Performs other duties as may be required or directed by the principal.
