Position Description

**Secret Clearance Required to Start.**The Company Test and Evaluation (BT&E) team in Huntsville, AL is hiring an Electromagnetic Test and Evaluation Engineer.This is an exciting opportunity that offers interdisciplinary work with both internal and external customers. The Electromagnetic Capability within BT&E is wide-ranging, stretching from Seattle, WA, through Mesa, AZ, to Saint Louis, MO, and down to Huntsville, AL and provides practical solutions for RCS testing, antenna pattern characterization, EMC, EO/IR, material measurements, and more. Opportunities exist for travel to other EM or business partner labs as well as national conferences and symposiums to support the business.This position involves working with an experienced, interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to create innovative solutions to meet unique and challenging requirements in a laboratory environment. Company's state-of-the-art Dynamic Advanced Radar Test (DART) facility is a full hardware-in-the-loop simulation capability for the development, verification, and sustainment of radar missile seekers. Using the world's largest missile seeker positioner, test articles are moved through a realistic motion profile while targets and countermeasures, generated by digital RF memories (DRFMs), provide highly realistic radar reflections. A spatial target array is then used to electronically position emissions from different points in space completing this highly realistic laboratory environment. The DART incorporates a wide variety of specialized equipment combining real-time software, LabView interfaces, RF systems, and complex FPGA designs.This role will require strong collaboration skills to work seamlessly with an interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to complete a test program that meets customer requirements. Must have organizational skills and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.Position Responsibilities Include:Develop and validate requirements for various electromagnetic test systems and componentsDevelop hardware and software architectures to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platformsPerform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and system performance and to optimize design around established requirementsDefine and conduct tests to validate performance of customer design requirementsProvide support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requestedIndependently operate test proceduresCoordinate with internal and external customers to satisfy specific test needsSolve technical anomalies, seeks to improve existing processes, and communicates complex ideas with teammates and customersAble to travel domestically as needed

Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science1+ years of hands-on hardware (lab environment) experience with electromagnetics1+ years of experience with RF systems or coursework in RF theoryWilling to travel domestically as neededPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or PhysicsRadar/RF component or system hardware experienceRadar/RF Test Equipment operation (e.g. Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Network Analyzer)Familiarity with Digital Signal Processing (DSP)Familiarity with Field-Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) logic designFamiliarity with Linux operating systemsExperience with embedded programming and debuggingExperience with key software packages (e.g. LabVIEW, MATLAB, C++, Python)Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
