Salary : $63,130.00 - $97,370.00 Annually Location : 33154, FL Job Type: Full-Time = 1 FTE Job Number: 2023-1017 Department: Public Works Department Opening Date: 07/14/2025 Description Performs skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of such items as street lights, pumps and motors, moveable bridges, wells, transfer stations, and a variety of electrical equipment in miscellaneous properties and facilities. Ensures that work is performed in compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Work is performed under general direction with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience and subject-matter expertise to apply advanced concepts, techniques, and knowledge of processes. - Inspects and repairs streetlights, emergency generators, pumps, compressors and other Town-owned mechanical systems
- Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on bridge gear and brake systems
- Inspects electrical and mechanical systems in public buildings and performs repairs as required
- Assists other departments with general lighting and electrical repairs and installations
- Assists public works personnel with various projects upon request
- Researches and procures electrical parts as needed
- Oversees the work of service vendors and contractors related to mechanical systems and facilities
- Disconnects and installs main sewer pumps; troubleshoots and resolves issues with the main motor control system
- Provides electrical drawings / sketches for Town-related projects and permitting
- Makes recommendations to managers related to best practices and remedies for repairing or replacing electrical or mechanical systems or items
- Performs other duties as required or as assigned
Supervision:
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by five or more years' experience as a licensed electrician; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have a valid state of Florida Journeyman Electrician License. May be required to have and maintain a valid Florida state driver's license. May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.Supplemental Information KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the electrical trade, National Electric Code, and Florida Building Code
- Knowledge of common hand tools used in electrical system maintenance work
- Knowledge of the rules involved in the safe and efficient operation of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
- Skill in working independently and following through with assignments with minimal direction
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department / organizational software
- Skill in the use of power tools
- Ability to read and interpret sketches, drawings, blueprints and schematics for repair procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to organize work for timely completion
- Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule
- Ability to pass the required background check and drug screening
- Ability to maintain licenses and certifications as a job requirement
