Job Title: Electrical Systems Engineer Job Description: Alexis Fire Equipment is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing and integrating electrical system components for Fire Apparatus. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and production personnel to ensure successful design and implementation of electrical systems. Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical system requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Design, develop, and release electrical system components within the Alexis Fire Equipment production system.
  • Create, organize, and document bills of materials (BOM) for electrical systems.
  • Work with external suppliers to assess feasibility, development, and integration of components.
  • Provide hands-on support during various stages of product development, including troubleshooting and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical design standards and industry regulations.
  • Assist with production builds and provide technical support as needed.
  • Maintain clear and concise oral and written communication across departments.
  • Work off-shift hours, as required, to support production schedules.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in vehicle electrical system design, integration, or testing.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical component development, wiring harnesses, and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of software and hardware interaction.
  • Experience managing project deliverables and timelines.
  • Knowledge of general product development processes.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work in both an office and production floor environment (50/50 split, with some flexibility based on project needs).
Preferred Skills:
  • Electrical Layouts/Schematics design and troubleshooting.
  • 12V Electrical Systems experience, including hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
  • 2D/3D design experience (classroom, internship, or professional exposure preferred).
Work Environment:
  • Smaller shop environment.
  • Dynamic split between office and hands-on production support (typically 50/50 but may vary depending on project phase).
  • Collaborative and fast-paced setting requiring adaptability and problem-solving skills.
