Job Description
B.L. Harbert International is looking for an Electrical Superintendent. The position is the top manager in the field responsible for all aspects of the electrical construction contract including production, safety, and quality control. As the use of subcontractors is very limited, he or she should have knowledge and background in construction means and methods in order to plan the work as a self-perform builder. This includes the ability to plan the work including manpower requirements, materials, tools, and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with project electrical manager/Engineer on schedule, progress and technical needsManage material requisitions in coordination with site/foremen needsReview drawings and specifications requirementsProvide look ahead schedules and reports to upper management on site electrical progressManage tools inventory and dispensingWork cooperatively with the quality control department in addressing defects and code violationsRequirements:
US CitizenshipAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the US GovernmentAbility to relocate to an international project site for 2-4 years5 years' experience in the supervision of construction projectsFluency in English, spoken, written and readCritical and effective leadership and personnel management abilityAbility to mentor inexperienced foreign electricians into the NEC safety environment, NEMA and ANSI electrical material and equipmentPreferences:
Experience in direct labor supervision (instead of subcontractors)Master Electrician certificationKnowledge of construction means and methods with a self-perform backgroundExperience in NFPA70E codes, standardsExperience in NEMA, UL electrical type materialExperience in Department of Defense or Department of State construction projectsProficiency in MS OfficePhysical Demands:
Ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overheadAbility to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist for extended periodsAbility to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 75 poundsPossess the manual dexterity to utilize and operate construction tools and/or construction equipment and machineryPossess physical agility and mobility, to include safely maneuvering throughout the job siteWork Environment:
Must be able to work 60-hours/week, six days/week, 10 hours/dayMay be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrationWill have occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including frequent loud noisesMust be comfortable with regular work near moving mechanical parts and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphaltB.L.
