Belstar has an immediate opening for an Electrical Inspector for vertical construction projects located within an aviation environment in central Maryland. The Electrical Inspector will be responsible for monitoring of contractor's quality control and contract compliance for projects of various size and scope.
Seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
Post-secondary education is preferredMinimum of two (2) years demonstratable experience in electrical construction inspection or a minimum of five (5) years working in the electrical construction industryMust be able to work nights and weekendsMust be able to obtain airport security badgeMust possess a valid motor vehicle operator's licenseMust be willing to pursue and obtain certifications and credentials related to positionSeeking candidates that possess the following skills:
Must be a proactive self-starter with the initiative to act on assignments with minimal oversightMust have the ability to read and interpret construction documents/standards and codes and be able to apply them to ongoing installationsEffective and timely verbal and written communication skillsAbility to communicate in a timely and effective manner in both written and oral formatsAbility to establish and maintain working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other team membersAble to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environmentComputer literacy with working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office suite programs. Experience with cloud-based construction management software and PDF editing software is a plus.Must be detail oriented and well-organizedCandidates would have the following responsibilities:
Perform daily quality assurance and code compliance inspection and surveillance of aviation related construction projects to ensure contract requirements are metIdentify and document non-compliant installations for corrective action by the contractorPerform design and constructability review of design phase construction documents for feedback to the clientMonitor contractor compliance with approved safety and security plans during all phases of constructionGenerate daily inspection report documenting construction activitiesAssist in monthly assessment of contractor progress and as-built documentation for progress paymentsAssist in development and execution of the commissioning plan and processesAct as a liaison between contractor and stakeholders for notification and coordination of work that will interrupt normal operationsMaintain familiarity and working knowledge of contract submittals, RFI's, changes and other project related elementsInterface and assist with oversight of sub-consultants performing 3rd party inspections or testing or other servicesThe position may require a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief as required by federal, state, provincial or local mandates or customer requirements.
The position involves an initial three to five month assignment. At the end of the three to five month period, we will hire an Electrical Inspector on a full-time basis.
