About the Role: The Dealer Service Tools division is seeking an Electrical Harness Engineer to join their dynamic team. This team is responsible for supporting product groups in designing a wide variety of CAT products by developing essential service tools. Every product group that designs a new machine collaborates with the mech lab in Building LC to develop service processes and information.
Key Responsibilities: - Electrical Harness and Cable Work: Collaborate with the offshore India team to detail drawings, ensuring compliance with 1E specifications.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of components.
- Harness Dissection and Reverse Engineering: Dissect electrical harnesses to understand connections and reverse engineer them.
- Service Tool Design: Design tools and testing devices within harnesses to run diagnostics. For example, redesign harnesses to test battery packs as standalone units before reassembly.
- Electrical Testing: Utilize voltmeters and various electrical testing tools to ensure harness functionality.
- Team Collaboration: Work as part of a 5-person team, with mandatory in-office days on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Local Travel: Occasionally travel to local suppliers as needed (minimal travel required).
Education & Experience Required: - Bachelors Degree strongly preferred, Masters will also work

- Ideally EE, other relevant degrees will also work
- Experience in electrical engineering (2-4 years)

- Relevant internships/co-ops count
- Electrical troubleshooting experience on various circuits and components
- Ability to understand complex wiring circuits and diagrams
- Experience installing/working with harnesses on various applications (knows best practices).
- Testing/validation
- Experience using instrumentation - voltmeters, scopes, metrology, data collection devices.
- CAT experience a major plus
