We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in product development to join our client's team. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing commercial and residential doors, as well as dock levelers and related equipment. This role focuses on configuring and integrating electrical components into larger mechanical systems, with an emphasis on industrial controls.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in product development and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to join our client's team. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing commercial and residential doors, as well as dock levelers and related equipment. This role focuses on configuring and integrating electrical components into larger mechanical systems, with an emphasis on industrial controls and manufacturability for high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical product development from concept through production release with a strong focus on DFM and scalability for mass production.
- Design, configure, and integrate electrical components (actuators, switches, sensors, motors, etc.) into mechanical systems for commercial/residential doors and dock equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical subsystems.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
- Select appropriate electrical parts and ensure compliance with applicable standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct system-level testing and troubleshooting to validate designs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing products.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for efficiency, cost, and large-scale manufacturability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in product development for industrial or mechanical systems, with exposure to DFM and production scale-up.
- Hands-on experience with actuators, switches, sensors, motors, and other industrial control components.
- Strong understanding of electrical integration into mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the doors, dock levelers, or similar mechanical systems industry.
- Familiarity with PLCs, industrial automation, and control systems.
- CAD software proficiency for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
