Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in electrical design, drafting, and equipment integration for industrial and power generation applications. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, schematic & diagram generation, panel loading calculations, and National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance.
This role involves designing, reviewing, and coordinating with cross-functional teams, providing technical direction to designers and drafters, and ensuring that all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work extensively with emergency power generation systems, switchgear, and electrical equipment packaging for top-tier brands like Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, and Schneider.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts for industrial and plant construction projects.
- Perform panel loading calculations, load balancing, and conductor/conduit sizing.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for projects.
- Coordinate with designers, drafters, and senior engineers to ensure accurate project execution.
- Review customer submittals, specifications, and drawings for compliance.
- Provide technical support and direction to project teams.
- Work with electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, and UPS systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and applicable safety standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, and other CAD tools to develop 2D and 3D designs.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and coordination with manufacturing and field personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent education and experience).
- 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in structural steel building fabrication or electrical equipment packaging.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Electrical 2015 or later) and 3D CAD modeling tools (Inventor, Revit MEP, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA standards.
- Experience with industrial power systems, emergency generators, and switchgear installations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience with estimating software (Accubid or similar) is a plus.
