Electrical Engineer III - Custom HVAC Systems Location: Redmond, Oregon | Industry: Advanced Manufacturing & HVAC Compensation: $120K+ DOE | 15% Annual Incentive Plan | 20% Long-Term Incentive Plan | Full-Time, Hybrid/Remote or On-site HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for an experienced Electrical Engineer III on behalf of a fast-growing custom HVAC manufacturing company based in Redmond, Oregon. Recognized as one of Central Oregon's fastest-growing companies, this organization is known for delivering tailored air handling systems for mission-critical environments such as data centers, clean rooms, and surgical spaces. With a team that has grown from 200 to over 800 employees in just a few years, the company is expanding its engineering group to meet increasing design demand and project complexity. The Opportunity This is a high-impact role working closely with cross-functional engineering leaders and sales application engineers. You will be responsible for creating electrical designs for custom HVAC equipment, helping the company scale its capacity to meet customer demands. You'll join a collaborative team of electrical, mechanical, and controls experts, and work closely with team leadership to turn complex customer requests into functional, field-ready systems. Key Responsibilities
  • Design high-voltage control panels for HVAC equipment, selecting components such as VFDs, transformers, and over-current protection to meet UL 508A, UL 1995, and UL 60335-2-40 standards
  • Develop one-line diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical, while contributing to a department-wide transition to Eplan software
  • Design low-voltage DDC/PLC control systems, including points lists, sequences of operation, and P&ID diagrams
  • Collaborate with Sales Application Engineers to interpret customer requirements, even with limited initial information
  • Support R&D initiatives, provide as-built documentation, and participate in commissioning and system validation as needed
  • Participate in customer meetings and cross-discipline team discussions that include electrical, mechanical, and controls perspectives
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • 6+ years of experience required
  • Certification in Eplan preferred, and able to step in and turn out work from day one
  • Hands-on experience designing electrical systems for HVAC equipment preferred, ideally in data center or clean room environments
  • Experience designing custom solutions that have not been previously built
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Familiarity with motor, pump, fan, and compressor controls
  • Understanding of UL508A, NEC, and relevant NFPA electrical standards
  • Confident, proactive problem-solver who can concept and execute solutions with limited upfront details
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with the ability to hit the ground running
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work cross-functionally and support growing internal and external communication needs
Team & Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager
  • Will be one of four engineers supporting a growing team focused on high-performance, custom HVAC solutions
  • Supported by specialists including a panel designer, Eplan library expert, and as-built documentation technician
  • A hybrid presence is preferred initially to learn the products, understand the business, and build strong connections with the team. Once up to speed, this role can transition to primarily remote with occasional trips to headquarters in Redmond as needed
  • A fully on-site presence is welcomed if preferred
