Primary Responsibilities
Manage and lead distribution projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and proposal development, project team development, project execution, and closeout, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget adherence.Mentor, supervise, and coordinate with Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians, and administrative staff.Engage with utility and developer clients to maintain strong relationships.Lead QA/QC processes in accordance with HDR's Quality Management Systems to ensure world-class quality.Oversee non-engineering project components such as public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, and construction management.Build and supervise a local distribution team, overseeing workload, quality, morale, and conducting performance reviews.Leverage company resources to deliver high-quality services.Manage client relationships, project execution, and staff supervision.Coordinate with Talent Acquisition and leadership for hiring and team growth.Support business development activities with existing and potential clients.Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of distribution design experience.
- Strong client management, marketing, and business development skills, with existing relationships in power delivery.
- PE license in relevant engineering field.
- Experience managing staff, clients, contracts, and hiring in an engineering consulting environment.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams and management levels.
- Commitment to quality and HDR values.
- PMP certification.
- Experience acting as client or project manager for select clients.
- Experience with data center and renewable energy projects.
- Ability to develop technical papers or presentations for industry conferences.
- Experience estimating costs and developing Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Proficiency with electrical and planning analysis software such as CYM, ETAP, or Milsoft.
- Experience with pole loading analysis tools like PLS-CADD, O-calc, SpidaCalc, or Pole Foreman.
- Proficiency in electrical distribution design software including PLS-CADD, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or ArcGIS.
- Experience with designing for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including reliability and grid modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7+ years of related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project; Access experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.
