Electrical Controls Engineer - Hybrid & Travel-Heavy Role - Gables Search Group : Job Details

We're recruiting for a client in Marietta, GA that's looking to bring on a junior-level Electrical Controls Engineer to join their growing automation team. This hybrid role includes shop-based engineering work as well as extensive travel-up to 70%-to support installations and startups across the U.S. This is a great opportunity for a rising engineer with strong PLC and CAD skills who enjoys solving problems on-site and being hands-on with cutting-edge equipment. In this role, you'll:

• Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs for custom automation
• Design electrical panels, wiring diagrams, and schematics using CAD tools
• Travel to customer sites to install, test, and debug systems
• Wire and debug equipment in-house prior to shipment
• Work closely with engineers and project leads on system improvements
• Assist with documentation, proposals, and training

• Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI platforms
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
• Ability to read schematics and perform hands-on wiring
• Strong collaboration skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to travel frequently (up to 70%)
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred

• Robotics or motion control exposure
• Structured Text or Ladder Logic programming
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar tools
