Job Description :

A leading snack food company is seeking an EHS Specialist to join its plant in the greater Salt Lake City area. The EHS Specialist will play a key role in developing and sustaining a world-class Health, Safety, and Environmental program. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs and plans.
  • Deliver safety training and coaching across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a resource for associates, promoting engagement in EHS initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical expertise in EHS matters, including capital project reviews.
  • Use data-driven approaches to prioritize and influence EHS initiatives.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain environmental records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sustainability practices with company goals.
  • Partner with production teams to embed safety culture and meet EHS objectives.
  • Align EHS initiatives with food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Conduct safety meetings and campaigns to promote a safety-first mindset.
  • Promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in production and packaging.
  • Identify and implement innovative EHS solutions for reducing risks and promoting employee safety.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.

What You Bring:

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Food Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS roles in food & beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP requirements.
  • EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and food safety frameworks such as HACCP or SQF.
  • Skilled in incident investigation and corrective action planning.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to drive EHS programs and cultural change.
  • Knowledge of local and federal EHS regulations and audit requirements.
  • Experience in waste management and continuous improvement initiatives.
