A leading snack food company is seeking an EHS Specialist to join its plant in the greater Salt Lake City area. The EHS Specialist will play a key role in developing and sustaining a world-class Health, Safety, and Environmental program. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop and implement site-specific EHS programs and plans.
- Deliver safety training and coaching across all levels of the organization.
- Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a resource for associates, promoting engagement in EHS initiatives.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise in EHS matters, including capital project reviews.
- Use data-driven approaches to prioritize and influence EHS initiatives.
- Manage environmental compliance programs including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain environmental records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sustainability practices with company goals.
- Partner with production teams to embed safety culture and meet EHS objectives.
- Align EHS initiatives with food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Conduct safety meetings and campaigns to promote a safety-first mindset.
- Promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in production and packaging.
- Identify and implement innovative EHS solutions for reducing risks and promoting employee safety.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
What You Bring:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Food Science, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS roles in food & beverage manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP requirements.
- EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred.
- Experience with EHS management systems and food safety frameworks such as HACCP or SQF.
- Skilled in incident investigation and corrective action planning.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to drive EHS programs and cultural change.
- Knowledge of local and federal EHS regulations and audit requirements.
- Experience in waste management and continuous improvement initiatives.
