Job Description :

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Site Manager is responsible for providing environmental health and safety support to operations, aiming to reduce injuries and illnesses, and improving the company's productivity and financial performance at the assigned location. The individual will collaborate closely with facility management to ensure a safe, accident-free, and healthy workplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

  • Lead the EHS program at the assigned location with buy-in from all levels of the company.
  • Promote and foster a safety-first attitude, partnering with plant management to maintain a safe, accident-free, and healthy workplace.
  • Champion corporate EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Help develop a strong safety culture where associates identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors, and look out for one another.
  • Serve as a technical resource, demonstrating safe working techniques and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify, design, and implement innovative programs, solutions, and communication tools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without compromising effectiveness.
  • Collaborate on accident prevention measures, reviews, and safety improvements.
  • Perform and assist with audits and inspections for compliance with EHS policies and regulations.
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs to address safety and environmental issues.
  • Support accident response, investigation, root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
  • Assist with return-to-work programs and coordinate medical treatments and claims processing.
  • Ensure team members are trained on and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Draft, revise, and maintain facility-specific procedures for safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings, presentations, and training sessions.
  • Complete EHS reporting and perform storm water monitoring and sampling.
  • Maintain EHS documentation and permits in accordance with procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors and adhere to company policies and safety regulations.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Collaborative problem-solving and solution design in compliance with EHS policies.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of staff and exhibit familiarity with manufacturing safety procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Innovative and practical approach to unsafe conditions and environmental concerns.
  • Decision-making based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Excellent organization, project management, and communication skills.
  • Leadership and motivation abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and risk management systems.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and collaboratively.

Minimum Experience, Education, and Certifications

Requires an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related field, with at least three years of safety experience in manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain seated for long periods, operate standard office equipment, and move about the facility, including accessing high and low shelves and transporting weights up to 65 pounds with assistance or equipment. Effective communication in noisy environments is necessary.

Environmental Conditions

Work may include exposure to outdoor weather, dust, noise, and working at heights or on uneven ground. Personal protective equipment and safety protocols are required.
