Job Overview

This position is responsible for leading and maintaining a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all aspects of Environmental Health and Safety for the site.

A Day In The Life
  • Assist the leadership team in maintaining a safe environment free of recognized hazards by working with plant supervision and the maintenance team to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local procedures, policies, and regulations.

  • Coordinate safety training activities for new and existing employees. Monitor training effectiveness and advise leadership of deficiencies and corrective actions.

  • Lead plant safety committee activities to promote proactive safety awareness and compliance.

  • Manage all injury/workman's compensation claims, including OSHA recordables and first aids.

  • Maintain environmental compliance through site audits and timely corrective actions, including No Exposure Certification, waste management, and reduction.

  • Lead by example with a professional demeanor to foster a positive and proactive safety culture.

  • Develop, maintain, and file required reports such as OSHA 300 logs, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II, NEC Notifications, etc.

  • Manage and develop direct reports, contractors, and consultants as needed.

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with leadership staff, production supervision, and maintenance/facilities teams.

  • Oversee procurement of safety supplies, products, or training materials.

  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives by working with the KAIZEN promotion office and staff to identify and drive continuous improvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role?
  • B.S./B.A. degree or 4 years of equivalent EHS experience with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to use judgment and available information to make accurate decisions to protect workers' health and safety.

  • Excellent prioritization skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Strong communication skills across organizational levels.

  • Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills.
