To this end, we are looking for a dynamic and devoted education leader to guide Educators Rising's Grow Your Own initiative in Connecticut from a strong initial start to a more mature sustainable program with Educators Connecticut Rising State Coordinator (CT State Coordinator).This position is remote, but the candidate must reside in Connecticut.The Position:This position will serve at the ground level in Connecticut and report to the Educators Rising Membership Department at the PDK national office to increase membership through outreach and engagement, execute Connecticut's state and regional Educators Rising events and lead the state student officer team. The CT State Coordinator will act as the executor and liaison between the national office and Connecticut's State Department of Education to support the partnership and ensure the smooth and professional execution of the program.This is an exciting time for PDK's Educators Rising, with growth in interest from districts and states on our “grow your own” educator pathway initiatives and our efforts to inspire middle school, high school, and collegiate preservice candidates into education careers. We need someone who can help us scale the program while also being a hands-on team member, getting involved in the details, completing the work, making a difference in the local community, and providing a meaningful career path for students who may find this their calling.Primary Duties:
- Liaise between the State Department of Education and the PDK national office to coordinate and implement common goals for success.
- Partner with schools and districts to establish Educators Rising chapters that introduce high school students to the teaching profession, including helping to identify skilled teachers to serve as teacher leaders as well as provide resources to support student recruitment.
- Expand the participation of districts, schools, and students in the program through regular information sessions and providing resources to support recruitment.
- Support the scaling of the program throughout the New England states by supporting the building of capacity of other EdRising Coordinators and informing program materials.
- Support and expand existing partnerships between high schools and local institutes of higher education to open opportunities for dual credit and/or enrollment, as well as to complete the Grow Your Own cycle by encouraging districts to hire former Educators Rising students as new teachers.
- Build and maintain relationships with school and district leaders to oversee and coordinate the implementation of the Educators Rising program across school sites.
- Hold regular state-level meetings with all Educators Rising teacher leaders educate and hold participants accountable for their part in our student's success through the providing of program updates, professional learning opportunities, ideas for elevating student voice, opportunities for networking or dialogue, and information from the national office.
- Plan and execute an annual state conference which offers official Educators Rising competitive events, and networking and professional learning opportunities.
- Plan and execute the annual state Increasing Educator Leadership Symposium, National Signing Day event, and Summer Leadership Institute.
- Facilitate the selection of state-level student officers and coordinate their participation in the governance of Educators Rising and elevate the quality of the program, which includes facilitating monthly evening meetings with the student officers.
- Support and build the capacity of the NextGen Educators.
- Liaise with the state education agency to support Educators Rising as a CTSO and participate in required activities to maintain such status.
- Track and report membership data including demographic information ensuring all members registered at the state level are also registered at the national level. Prepare a completed annual report, briefly describing the activities it conducted during the year to further Educators Rising's Mission as well as opportunities for dual credit and/or enrollment.
- Identify and facilitate connections with potential revenue or fundraising sources so that PDK's National Office can coordinate with said partners to keep district and student costs down.
- Travel to the annual Educators Rising National Conference as a state representative.
- Meet and report on deliverables outlined in respective grant(s) designated for the implementation of Educators Rising programming. Provide consultation to help complete bi-annual reports for our CT Educators Rising program funder.
- Assist the Educators Rising national office staff in a twice-per-year program “wellness check,” which includes administering an online survey, created by the Educators Rising national office staff, to all Educators Rising members in your state with a follow-up conversation between the state/regional coordinator and Educators Rising national office staff.
- Attend virtual monthly meetings of state coordinators.
- Create a state website to promote Educators Rising and provide information on opportunities and events.
- Additional duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, compassion, and self-awareness combined with the strength of conviction, and “steel” in the face of adversity. Oh, and humor too.
- Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred OR commensurate work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in K-12 education.
- Experience in district administration or state education department administration is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of school, district, and state education agency sales cycle, budget process, and purchasing process.
- Ability to develop relations between distinct leaders and/or local funders.
- Experience with the consultative communication process.
- A demonstrated ability to mediate discussions by recognizing underlying hesitations and overcoming concerns.
- Proven track record of excelling in a fast-paced work environment and managing time effectively.
- Ability to execute but not be limited to linear thinking and a willingness to lead and innovate.
- Confident, assertive, and goal-oriented with the ability to learn quickly and effectively apply learned processes into practice.
- Exceptional communicator - verbal and written.
- Experience with education technology including but not limited to learning management systems (LMS) and contact records management (CRM) preferred.
- As this role is grant-funded applicants must have the ability to open doors to funding sources and or create resource opportunities for the successful continuation of the impact in the state and the growth of the program.
- Experience with planning and executing large events.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Must live in Connecticut.
