Job Description :
  • MS or MA and a valid New York State Teachers Certification N-6 or Birth -2 (or an equivalent certificate from another state recognized by the New York State Department of Education).
  • Two years of group teachers experience plus relevant academic coursework for the appropriate age levels.
  • Additionally, it is recommended that the Director possess the following personal qualifications:

    • Demonstrated leadership qualities (mature judgment) and the ability to work cooperatively with all individuals.
    • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and implement a sound educational program; be articulate, pleasant, and resourceful.
    • Willingness to utilize available training to improve administrative and supervisory skills, as well as an understanding of fiscal and budgetary management.

    Statement of Job:

    Within policy guidelines established by the Board of Directors, the terms of the Purchase of Service Agreement, and licensing requirements, the Director is responsible for the overall administration and supervision of the entire day care program for families and children. Responsibilities include coordinating and supervising all program components such as childrens intellectual development, health and social services, nutrition, staff development, community outreach, parent involvement, fiscal management and accountability, and office and facilities management. To effectively carry out these responsibilities, the Director shall consult with other supervisory staff members when making decisions affecting areas in which they are specialists.
