Position Summary:
The Educational Coordinator assists the Director of Workforce Development in overseeing adolescent employment programs, including the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Work, Learn & Grow. Responsibilities include developing work readiness initiatives to support teens in college and career pursuits, creating internships, job shadowing opportunities, and job development activities before and after college graduation.
The role involves designing and implementing curriculum and activities for youth aged 14 to 19, focusing on social, emotional, academic, and workforce development skills. The coordinator mentors and coaches students, reviews their action plans for project-based learning (PBL), and fosters a safe, welcoming learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly DYCD/Children's Aid meetings and trainings, relaying relevant information to colleagues.
- Facilitate work readiness workshops for teens served by the division.
- Conduct workshops to attract worksites.
- Develop strategies connecting jobs and careers.
- Maintain youth internship attendance records and generate analysis reports.
- Attend database management trainings as required by funders and/or agency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in youth development and/or work readiness.
- Knowledge and experience with work readiness curricula.
- Associate Degree or equivalent credits required.
Key Competencies:
- Experience with work readiness curriculum.
- Knowledge of Zoom and Google Classroom.
- Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and structured programming for high school students.
- Effective instructional delivery and communication skills.
- Commitment to a strength-based and youth development approach.
