Job Description

Join the legal team as a Trial Attorney, defending both the insured and the Company. You will handle bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, participate in trials, arbitrations, and mediations, and provide legal counsel to business clients. Stay informed on new laws and regulations to ensure our legal strategies are effective and compliant. This role offers the excitement of diverse legal challenges and the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including case assessment, discovery, depositions, motions, negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.
  • Organize documents, evidence, and legal research for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case law; prepare summaries and reports.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal documents.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries, and maintain communication records.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and legal proceedings; represent the company or clients in routine matters as needed.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes impacting ongoing cases.
  • Participate in training and mentorship programs to enhance legal skills and handle complex legal issues.
  • Education
    • Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Completion of courses in legal research, writing, and analysis; ability to conduct thorough research and draft clear legal documents.
    • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Organizational skills for managing case files and understanding the discovery process.
    • Effective communication skills for client interactions and record-keeping.
    • Knowledge of legal ethics and professional conduct standards.
    • Negotiation skills for client interactions and settlement discussions.
    • Ability to commute within the greater New York area.
