Salary: $24.41 - $33.53 Hourly Location : Battle Creek, MI Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 2025-00071 Department: Circuit Court Opening Date: 09/08/2025 Closing Date: 9/22/2025 11:59 PM Eastern Bargaining Unit: TPOAM-CIRCUIT Job Summary Under the supervision of the Drug Court Coordinator, serves as case manager for the drug court program and, as such, interviews clients, monitors compliance with and progress toward program goals. Assist drug court participants with referrals to appropriate community services along with individual treatment plans and prepares necessary reports along with attending and assisting in biweekly court sessions. This position includes responsibilities for observing urine specimen collections. To ensure privacy and comply with standards or regulations, observers must be of the same sex as the individual being tested. The Drug Court program accepts both male and female participants. The Drug Court program has one female and one male case manager position to ensure that same sex urine specimen collection can be done. The male case manager position is the basis for the vacancy. Therefore, because this role solely observes all male Drug Court participants during urine specimen collections, the position requires a male staff member. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake and follow-up interviews.
  • Administer pre-screening interviews with clients who are referred to the drug court program and schedules eligible potential participants for treatment assessments.
  • Gathers comprehensive information through police, prosecutors, and/or other agencies in order to evaluate data and determine participant's needs.
  • Case manages participants in the program to ensure program compliance.
  • Collect urine specimens and performs preliminary breath testing (PBT) of drug court participants.
  • Make community resource referrals for participants with regard to medical concerns, housing, counseling, transportation, etc.
  • Prepare biweekly progress notes.
  • Prepare, copy and distribute the biweekly report.
  • Recommend sanctions/incentive options to assigned judge and assistant prosecuting attorney.
  • Appear and testify in court as program representative when subpoenaed or deemed appropriate.
  • Collect fees and maintains appropriate records.
  • Collects raw data.
  • Attend all drug treatment court sessions.
  • Qualifications
    • A four year degree from an accredited college program in social work, sociology, psychology, public administration, business administration, criminal justice or a related field.
    • One year experience in a responsible position such as social work, counselor, probation officer in a substance abuse treatment program or criminal justice court/agency/department.
    • One or more years of experience in a substance abuse treatment setting are desirable.
