Donor Support Counselor I - American Red Cross : Job Details

Location: Pennsylvania Office, 700 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia, PA 19123.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM, with rotating Saturdays.

Salary: $20.24/hr + Shift Differential (+$1.75 after 3pm, +$1.25 on weekends).

• Support donor deferral, notification, and counseling regarding abnormal or unexpected test results.
• Educate donors on risk behaviors, health precautions, and future implications, providing community referrals as needed.
• Follow up on donor information requiring further action, including suspect product retrieval and notifying outside agencies of infectious risks.
• Coordinate donor participation in research or follow-up studies, scheduling testing and updating deferral statuses.
• Complete and maintain accurate donor case files, including supporting documentation for reentry and reinstatement.
• Perform recipient tracing activities.

• Bachelor's degree in health science, quality assurance, or related field.
• 1 year of experience in hospital, laboratory, infectious disease, or STD clinic preferred.
• Ability to work in a team, with training in health education or infectious disease counseling preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and intermediate to advanced MS Office skills.
• Bilingual skills are helpful.
