The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency, at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Donor Management Coordinator 1 (Night Shift). This position is responsible for coordinating and managing cadaver donors for organ procurement, with on-call responsibilities under the Chief Medical Officer and the Organ Procurement Manager of LAORA. It involves direct clinical support of potential organ donors, education, reporting to regulatory agencies like UNOS, and participation in clinical research.
Core Job Functions
Respond to potential donor referrals called in to LAORA service across multiple counties and the Bahamas.Communicate with the AOC regarding donor activity to evaluate donation suitability.Assess potential donors independently to ensure medical eligibility for donation.Request and interpret laboratory and diagnostic procedures for donor evaluation.Develop donor maintenance plans in collaboration with medical staff.Coordinate donor maintenance with hospital personnel upon brain death declaration.Report clinical information relevant to donation and transplantation in a timely manner.Ensure organs are preserved from brain death or circulatory death, following protocols and laws.Participate in donation after circulatory death (DCD) procedures.Handle shift duties on a rotation basis, responding to clinical activity accordingly.Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment, pharmacology, ventilator care, and infection control.Support the donation request process with families and hospital staff.Maintain IT proficiency for data entry and record-keeping.Coordinate with medical examiners and transplant centers for organ donation and placement.Maintain logs, document clinical information, and ensure regulatory compliance.Support community and hospital education on organ donation.Participate in seminars, workshops, and research activities.Assist in organ/tissue allocation if deemed unsuitable for transplant.Maintain licensure and clinical knowledge through ongoing education.Work in a hospital setting with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and TB.This list is not exhaustive and may be expanded as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.One year of Critical Care or OPO experience.Preferred certifications include CPTC, RN, EMT/Paramedic with ACLS and BLS, PALS optional.CPTC must be obtained within two years of hire.Relevant education, certifications, or experience may be considered.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and a dynamic work environment.
