Job Description :

This employee assists the department Director in managing departmental activities and provides support in all areas of the assigned department. The incumbent directs work assignments and projects of division staff, reviews, and participates in their work, ensuring quality and adherence to policies and procedures. The role involves handling technical and complex tasks related to the division's responsibilities.

Additional Information Related to the Role

Cincinnati Parks is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and motivational leader for our Planning & Design Division. The division manages Parks' Capital Improvement Program, including projects funded through the Cincinnati Southern Railway Trust. This position reports directly to the Director of Parks and is part of the senior leadership team.

The leader will develop and implement plans to preserve, renovate, and improve parks, greenspaces, facilities, and amenities citywide. Projects include neighborhood park renovations, playground replacements, facilities renovations, trail projects, a riverfront marina, stream restoration, conservatory restoration, and ongoing maintenance projects such as stormwater management, masonry, accessibility, infrastructure, and more.

The position supervises architects, engineers, planners, and project managers. The ideal candidate is a strong team builder, focused on creating a positive workplace culture that is mission-driven and collaborative, aiming to enhance parks and greenspaces for the Cincinnati community.

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or related field is required; a Master's is preferred. Five years of supervisory experience in business management, focusing on HR, project, or change management is required. Relevant experience may substitute for education, and vice versa.

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends.

Military Education & Experience

May substitute military training and experience for college coursework based on ACE recommendations.

Environmental Conditions: Must manage indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to weather, machinery, vehicles, dust, chemicals, and inclement weather.
