Base pay range

$110,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

A leading national organization in the residential development and construction industry is seeking a Division Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a key market. This role plays a critical part in driving financial performance, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational decision-making within a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic financial leader with a strong foundation in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on building high-quality communities and delivering meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Direct the preparation and review of monthly financial reports, budget vs. actual analyses, and financial forecasts.
  • Partner with market and operational leadership to align financial planning with strategic business goals.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes and provide required documentation and responses.
  • Serve as a key liaison between centralized shared services and divisional operations to ensure efficient financial workflows.
  • Oversee and support a high-performing accounting team, providing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Manage division-level financial decisions, budget oversight, and strategic planning activities.
  • Continuously improve processes and drive efficiency across accounting and administrative functions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA (active or inactive) strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting and/or a corporate environment.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and influence key stakeholders.
