Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Essential Duties: District Sign Tech II Moves equipment, tools, materials, and products. Maintains expense records and inventory of materials, supplies and equipment. Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties. Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs. Performs and maintains inventory of signs. Performs preventive maintenance on sign truck. Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. District Sign Tech II Conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs). Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs. Issues signs to maintenance sections/transportation crews; uses tools and equipment and moves signs and related materials. Performs and maintains inventory of signs. Performs preventive maintenance on sign truck. Measures and calculates amount of materials needed. Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions. Operates radios. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Education:o NoneWORK Experienceo District Sign Technician I§ NONEo District Sign Technician II§ 1 YEAR Sign installation and/or repair, roadway maintenance, construction, transportation engineering support, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience.§ (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)§ Substitution •Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Licenses and Certifications: Valid US driver's license at the time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N endorsement at the time of application.
