The TLT is anticipated to end December 31, 2026. ** King County District Court Profile KCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 separate locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail- alternative programs, technology and judge-managed probation services. Twelve cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC. A Competitive District Court Clerk Candidate King County District Court is seeking Court Clerks with prior experience using an e-Courts system (electronic court management and filing system) as part of their regular work duties. Candidates with previous employment as a Court Clerk within the King County District Court are especially encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates are active learners, adaptable, reliable, and action-oriented, helping to establish a competitive pool for current Court Clerk positions. Court clerks face a variety of populations, (in person, telephonically, virtually, and electronically) with a variety of needs and questions when they make contact with the court. Clerks must establish a level of service that meets the needs of the public's request while also working within the parameters of legal boundaries, maintaining a positive rapport as much as possible when serving the public at large. Clerks are faced with a variety of competing priorities on a daily basis; learning how to best meet shifting timelines and communicating with supervisors along the way is expected and highly desired in a successful court clerk Job Duties
  • Utilize active listening and problem-solving skills, to assist a diverse customer base, while providing accurate information and resources to deliver the best possible experience for the court user.
  • Accurate processing of cases and updating case records, demonstrating a high level of detail, while working in a variety of settings and scenarios.
  • Ability to handle processing and system changes on a regular basis while utilizing adaptive learning skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service through in-person, telephonic, and written communication.
  • Confers and communicates with management and team regarding time sensitive tasks while setting priorities.
  • Accurately scheduling, maintaining, and distributing courtroom calendars to support operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment while maintaining ability to work independently.
  • Disseminate information and instruction in the courtroom setting as directed.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for court users, answering questions and providing instruction within the constraints of legal boundaries.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the court while recognizing the importance of your role as a court employee.
  • Accurately collecting fees and updating financial records as needed.
  • Daily interactions with Judges, attorneys and executive-level management.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsRequired Experience:
  • Prior experience using an e-Courts system (electronic court management and filing system) as part of regular work duties.
  • Previous employment as a court clerk with the King County District Court.
Desired:
  • Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Amharic, American Sign Language, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Samoan, Somali, Spanish or Vietnamese.
Special Requirements:
  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds. The vision abilities required to perform this position include close vision.
  • Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • Work Schedule: This recruitment will be used to fill TLT positions working a 40- hour work week. Responsibilities occasionally may require overtime in order to meet deadlines.
