Salary : $52,832.00 - $62,171.20 Annually Location : Grant County Courthouse, WA Job Type: Full Time Regular Job Number: HR -01078 Department: DISTRICT COURT Division: DC COURT CLERKS Opening Date: 08/04/2025 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: A02 Position SummaryFirst review of applicants will be August 18, 2025. Open Until Filled Perform a full range of office and courtroom administrative support services to assist in the administration of the District Court. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC's, or other regulatory bodies.
  • Preparing dockets and case files for trials and hearings.
This function involves setting the schedule of cases to be heard in the courtroom using computer based and manual case information such as dates set by the judge, prosecuting attorneys and other attorneys or calendar dates resulting from court orders and statutes. The function also requires assembling all documents from case files and organizing them together with forms, applications, motions and other pleadings to be presented in court. These are required to be in proper sequence and format according to the judge's preferences.
  • Serving as courtroom clerk.
This includes such in-court tasks as furnishing the judge with documents in proper sequence for a variety of types of trials and hearings; receiving, marking and safekeeping exhibits and documents presented in court; taking accurate minutes of court proceedings; and marking future calendar dates for docketing cases according to court orders. This may also include recording and monitoring court ordered sentences having special conditions, such as successful completion of remedial or rehabilitative programs.
  • Performing administrative support services in the District Court office.
These services include processing courtroom exhibits and documents after trials or hearings according to court orders and involves such tasks as preparing notices to parties of court orders and future appearance dates, entering data into computerized records and preparing documents for case files.
  • Administrative support tasks also may include: accepting and accounting for fines and fees paid; preparing such documents as arraignment and sentencing papers; interpreting court orders and reviewing case files to determine if sentencing conditions have been met; personal and telephone assistance to attorneys and citizens such as providing appropriate and authorized information on pending matters and filing procedures; assisting attorneys and pro se parties with filing of documents for legal proceedings; assisting in setting calendar dates and composing form letters for transmitting documents or requesting information.

Required •Minimum 18 years of age •High school diploma or GED •Office administrative experience: including word processing, data entry, file preparation /management, basic bookkeeping, and safekeeping of confidential information •Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., •Must be comfortable working in an office & court room environment •Ability to be flexible and adapt to last minute assignment changes & constant interruptions •Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees & judges •Must have experience working in a fast-paced office environment •Able to multitask and/or adapt to a variety of work assignments •Appropriate public service in person and by telephone •Valid Driver's License with proof of automobile insurance •Background Check: Must have an acceptable background record •Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record Preferred •Experience with JIS or DOS based systems •Two years office experience in a field closely related to the judicial or legal practice •Experience with preparation of documents, reports, or formal correspondence Working Conditions Work is primarily performed inside but can be performed in varying temperatures. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee may also be exposed to sub-sanitary environments.
