Division/Program Summary: The Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial inequities resulting in premature mortality, focusing on chronic disease by addressing social and environmental health factors.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Director of Behavioral & Resiliency, this role serves as the internal agency contact for program, administrative, and fiscal matters related to Violence Prevention Initiatives. The role involves coordinating with multiple City Agencies, including DYCD, to implement violence prevention strategies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the internal agency contact for all matters pertaining to VPI and coordinate with City Agencies and stakeholders.
  • Lead violence prevention efforts, including participation in taskforces and working groups.
  • Develop and oversee neighborhood-based approaches to gun violence prevention in priority areas.
  • Lead strategic planning, goal setting, and support staff responsible for program implementation and evaluation.
  • Finalize program documents, advocate for resources, and lead dissemination efforts.
  • Serve as the main contact for the citywide Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and contribute to policy development.
  • Coordinate with program partners and external institutions, organizing meetings and collaborations.
  • Oversee research and evaluation projects, utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Review and interpret data to inform program and policy decisions, and oversee data infrastructure development.
  • Manage the fiscal aspects of the program, including budgeting and expenditure oversight.

    • Minimum Qualifications:

    • For Level I: Master's degree in public health, physical, biological, or environmental sciences.
    • For Level II and above: Doctorate or Master's with relevant experience, including supervisory or research roles.

    Note: A minimum one-year probationary period applies.

    Preferred Skills: Background in public health, social justice, community organizing, policy, data analysis, and program management. Strong communication, supervision, and independent work skills. Master's degree required.
