About The RoleTotal Wine & More is seeking a Director, THC Beverages to lead the strategic vision, growth, and operational execution for our THC beverage category. In this role, you will own category leadership, from market strategy to supplier negotiations while ensuring compliance in a complex and evolving regulatory environment. You will set the long-term roadmap for category growth, lead cross-functional execution, drive innovation and represent Total Wine & More as the industry leader in this emerging space. You will report to the Sr. Director, Merchandising.You will
- Lead and develop a high-performing team implementing efficient processes and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration to support key functions and accelerate business growth.
- Set the strategic direction for the THC beverage category, establishing growth plans, assortment strategies, and competitive positioning to drive sales, margin, and customer engagement.
- Lead supplier strategy and negotiations, building high-value partnerships and securing market-leading costs, exclusive products, and differentiated assortments.
- Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert on THC beverages, advising senior leadership, influencing corporate strategy, and representing the category in executive discussions.
- Navigate and oversee compliance across multiple states, partnering closely with Legal and Regulatory teams to ensure all sourcing, labeling, and marketing activities meet local requirements.
- Guide innovation and product development, leveraging consumer insights, trend analysis, and market research to shape future assortments and private-label opportunities, while partnering closely with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility, efficiency, and speed to market.
- Drive cross-functional execution with Supply Chain, Marketing, Store Operations, and Digital teams to launch and support products, promotional campaigns, and educational initiatives.
- Oversee category performance through analytics and KPI tracking, identifying opportunities, and leading course corrections to achieve financial goals.
You will come with
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in buying, category management, or vendor management, with a strong track record of building new categories and managing complex product portfolios. Experience collaborating with manufacturing partners to optimize product development and execution is a plus.
- Experience in emerging industries such as beverage alcohol, cannabis, or other regulated consumer goods.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale negotiations and delivering measurable business results.
- Deep understanding of regulatory considerations in multi-state or highly regulated markets.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Strategic mindset with proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving category with high visibility and growth potential.
