    The Position

    Liberty Mutual Investments (LMI) is actively searching for a Director, Private Investments to join the Structured Products Group (SPG) within Global Fixed Income (GFI). In this role, you will focus on originating, underwriting, and executing private structured investments in close partnerships with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and various other stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Grow direct originations across SPG asset classes (consumer, commercial, residential, structured credit, and commercial real estate)
    • Originate proprietary, direct private transactions by leveraging existing relationships, developing new relationships, and collaborating with internal and external partners
    • Partner with colleagues to originate, underwrite, and execute private senior and subordinated structured investments across SPG asset classes, collateral types, and structures
    • Complete all aspects of investment origination, evaluation, and execution including
      • Conducting research and generating investment ideas
      • Conducting financial, operational, structural, and market due diligence
      • Analyzing risks and structuring to mitigate risks while optimizing for legal, capital, regulatory, rating agency, and accounting considerations
      • Negotiating deal terms and legal documentation
      • Managing investments post-closing
    Qualifications
    • Experience on investment bank asset lending desk and / or buy side structured lending investment role
    • Experience with a wide range of asset classes (ABS/RMBS/CMBS/CLO), collateral types, and structures including whole loans
    • Demonstrated history of managing deep industry relationships and the ability to establish new relationships to help source new opportunities
    • Significant experience originating bilateral private transactions and leading the negotiation of deal terms and structures with borrowers, lenders, rating agencies, investors and other third parties
    • Experience investing up and down capital stack with significant experience with subordinate and equity investments
    • Advanced analytical knowledge and modeling capabilities
    • Comfortable establishing, presenting, and defending investment theses to investment committee
    • Strong communication/interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with a variety of investment and support professionals
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Seven to ten years of relevant industry experience
