Job Description :
Overview

The Director, Strategic Resources Group (SRG) is a high-impact operator embedded in the work that matters most across our portfolio. This role is built for a sharp, execution-minded professional—typically with 4–6 years of experience in consulting, FP&A, strategy, or operations—ready to drive results inside a hands-on, fast-paced environment. SRG Directors partner directly with Ames Watson leadership and PortCo teams to accelerate growth, unlock value, and solve high-priority challenges with urgency and ownership.

You will serve as the connective tissue between Ames Watson and our portfolio companies—driving clarity, alignment, and execution. You'll lead cross-functional initiatives that span growth strategy, operational efficiency, new business launches, store rollouts, and talent upgrades.

This role is built for someone who thrives in complexity, moves quickly from insight to action, and knows how to build trust while pushing teams forward. This person must have previous experience working within for-profit businesses with a demonstrated understanding of how operational decisions impact profitability (P&L). You bring sharp analytical thinking, strong organizational instincts, and a bias for impact.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee 1–3 strategic projects across portfolio companies at a time (e.g., real estate expansion, merchandising, cost optimization, operational initiatives)
  • Build executive-ready presentations to report project status, synthesize risks, and communicate next steps
  • Work cross-functionally with both Ames Watson leadership and portfolio company teams to keep initiatives on track
  • Analyze KPIs and operational data to flag risks, blockers, or opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to strategic planning, performance tracking, and team coordination across business lines
  • Collaborate across the portfolio to identify shared challenges and help roll out best practices
Skills and Qualifications
  • Private sector experience required; candidates must have worked within for-profit commercial businesses (i.e. consumer, retail, manufacturing, corporate environments)
  • 4–6 years of experience in consulting, FP&A, corporate strategy, business operations, or transformation/PMO work
  • Demonstrated ability to distill large, complex data sets into concise presentations that drive decision making
  • Experience managing or supporting complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deliverables
  • Ability to dive into the details (data, processes, people, teams) to build a comprehensive understanding of the problem set and then zoom out to deliver executive-level updates and communications (PowerPoints, meetings, emails) that drive decision making
  • High level of ownership, curiosity, and resourcefulness—you take initiative and figure things out
  • Operations knowledge in resource planning, demand planning, business planning, corporate strategy, communications, leadership, benchmarking, and forecasting required
  • Ability to travel and be away from home for more than one day and night at a time
Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr
