Summary: The Director, Strategic Platforms is responsible for enhancing, strengthening, and managing the platform management core competency at Chromalloy. They will also lead the platform analytics function and ensure the overall health of the strategic platforms portfolio. This is a senior business role that is expected to create company level outcomes.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Develops a comprehensive platform management function at Chromalloy that is capable of end-to-end value stream management of all the company's strategic platforms.
  • Builds robust processes for portfolio management including idea ingestion, curation, execution, tracking, and retrospectives.
  • Develops standard work and processes including metrics, dashboards, and review templates, that ensure high visibility, agility, and accountability towards meaningful business outcomes.
  • Ensures that the company has a robust portfolio of programs that create year-on-year growth in sales and EBITDA. Deploys best-in-class governance processes for managing the portfolio, including business case development, IPMT, and gate reviews.
  • Builds a strong platform analytics capability that provides detailed and high-quality insights on market penetration, competitive position, profitability, quality, and other critical KPIs.
  • Works closely with technical platform managers and other business stakeholders (BD, Operations, Engineering, Finance) to ensure alignment on market strategies, development priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Commercial Acumen – Keen awareness and understanding of customer needs & expectations in the aviation business. Can anticipate future trends and consequences accurately.
  • Strategic Orientation – Focuses on creating large and sustainable business outcomes. Can see the forest for the trees. Focuses on the trend line and ignores the noise.
  • Cross-Functional Thinker – Assesses impacts of actions across entire value-stream. Uses experience to sniff out risks and plan accordingly.

  • Data-driven – Comfortable with large amounts of data and analytics. Strong orientation towards evidence-based decision-making.

Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience including at least 5 years in P&L and/or large platform/program management in a similar operating environment.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated product and program experience in aero and/or aero-derivative gas turbines including in-depth market perspective, understanding of industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Deep expertise in program management including business case development, work breakdowns, planning and tracking, critical path analysis, etc. Well versed in Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent commercial and financial awareness, including a good understanding of risk and opportunity management, analytical reasoning skills and decision-making.
  • Effective communicator with ability to present complex ideas in a compelling and comprehensive manner to all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools like Kaizen, VSM, Policy Deployment, etc.
  • Managerial courage. Tactfully dispenses direct and actionable feedback. Is open and direct with others without being intimidating. Deals head-on with people problems and prickly situations.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and awareness.
  • Excellent computer skills using MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office products.
  • Ability to work in Palm Beach Gardens, FL with some travel to customer and internal sites as required (10-20%).
