Director Solutions Engineering - Smarsh : Job Details

As Director of Solutions Engineering, you'll lead a team of talented Solutions Engineers that play a vital role in our mission—supporting complex, high-value customer engagements and bringing our unique value proposition to life in regulated industries like Financial Services.

You'll be an integral part of the go-to-market leadership team, driving alignment across Sales, Product, and Professional Services. If you're passionate about leading from the front, coaching a high-performing team, and enabling world-class customer outcomes through technical storytelling, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Lead a high-impact team: Recruit, coach, and scale a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers focused on enterprise and strategic customers across the U.S. and Canada.
• Drive revenue impact: Partner closely with Account Executives to architect solutions that align with customer needs and drive commercial success.
• Elevate the sales process: Enable the team to deliver compelling demos, solution architectures, and implementation plans that accelerate deal velocity and improve win rates.
• Bridge customer and product: Act as the technical voice of the customer—bringing feedback into Product, Engineering, and Marketing to shape roadmap priorities and content strategy.
• Promote technical excellence: Instill best practices including MEDDIC, Demo2Win, and Challenger-based methodologies; support use of presales tooling (e.g., Responsive for RFPs).
• Represent Smarsh externally: Attend customer meetings, conferences, and industry events to elevate our brand and build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in technical presales, solutions engineering, or solution architecture in complex B2B SaaS environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
• Deep technical knowledge of cloud-based platforms; bonus for experience in compliance, AI, data, and/or regulated industries like Financial Services.
• Fluency in modern sales methodologies including MEDDIC, Challenger, and value-based selling.
• Strong communicator with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes for both executive and technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

What Sets You Apart

• Experience working with or selling into Financial Services, Legal, Risk, or Compliance stakeholders.
• Past career experience as a software developer, solutions consultant, or professional services engineer.
• Familiarity with presales enablement tooling and co-selling with system integrators.
