ResponsibilitiesHolds 24-hour accountability for the operation of the department; utilizes all available resources to ensure effective performance; provides appropriate staffing levels and skill mix; performs personnel functions such as recruiting, hiring, disciplinary actions, evaluations, counseling, and education according to university and hospital policies; documents all personnel actions; supports personnel as valuable assets; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, coaches, and mentors staff; develops an annual budget within available resources; coordinates with other department heads for resource use; monitors budget expenses and revenues, adjusting spending as needed; employs cost-effective practices; evaluates and recommends space allocation and design; develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures per JCAHO and hospital standards; manages bids, supplies, and equipment; supports the university's mission by integrating institutional values and fostering an environment conducive to medical, nursing, and allied health students; performs duties professionally and timely; uses computers and software for reports and correspondence; enforces compliance requirements ethically; facilitates staff participation in training; ensures personnel competency; monitors work performance; conducts staff evaluations; develops action plans for underperforming employees; participates in strategic planning; develops and translates strategic plans to staff; ensures standards by professions, regulatory, and governmental agencies are met; maintains current standards and infection control; fosters interdisciplinary collaboration; communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and the healthcare team; responds promptly to communications; develops a performance improvement program using ICARE methodology; maintains attendance and schedule adherence; performs related duties as required.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited institution; five years of managerial experience, including three years in a hospital setting.
