This team leads our API ecosystem and associated developer platforms. APIs form a critical building block for developing software, from customer applications, to real-time financial decisioning, to machine learning and AI. We touch every part of Capital One.

Our API platforms are a critical control point in managing API traffic within and across the enterprise and help protect against malicious actors or accidental data leakage. This role has general PM responsibility for all aspects of API management within Capital One, setting the standard for application integration excellence across the enterprise. We are building platform software for the next generation of developers at Capital One and seek someone who can create lovable yet bulletproof solutions at scale. This work is core to Capital One's mission to change banking for good.

This role advocates for the needs of the developer and the business. You will identify our highest leverage opportunities and ensure roadmaps are optimized to meet business outcomes. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, empathizes with internal and external customer needs, and is comfortable engaging with engineering teams as well as stakeholders ranging from data scientists to senior business leaders.

Responsibilities and what you will do
  • Engage stakeholders (Business, Engineering, Architecture, Risk, and Cyber) to serve as the voice of the customer, identify new capabilities, define product features, and work with development teams to launch those features
  • Set strategic vision and drive roadmaps, regularly engaging and updating Leadership and stakeholders
  • Partner with engineering leadership across multiple teams to ensure strong collaboration and alignment
  • Own the product management practice within your organization, defining expectations and commitments and driving continuous improvement
  • Operationalize product metrics and build business cases for new investment
  • Influence senior stakeholders to adopt your products and build buy-in by sharing business impact

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of experience working in Product Management
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following with the expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or related quantitative field)
  • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration
Preferred Qualifications
  • People leadership experience of product management teams
  • Experience with API platforms or API management in an enterprise environment
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or familiarity with AWS or other Cloud platforms

The salary information, by location, is provided below for candidates hired to work in those locations. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. The listed ranges are the actual offer ranges at the time of posting and may vary by location.

  • Chicago, IL: $205,400 - $234,400
  • McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900
  • New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300
  • Plano, TX: $205,400 - $234,400
  • Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400
  • San Francisco, CA: $246,500 - $281,300

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered will be reflected in the offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentives, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
