Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing all payroll operations, activities, and initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to guests and employees by exceeding our mission statement.
  • Lead by example and deliver our Five Star Experience to Guests and Team Members by fulfilling our Mission Statement, Service Promise, and department standards. This includes being Welcoming, Proactive, Seamless, Personalized, and Valued.
  • Coach and support Team Members to ensure they have the skills, tools, and resources to succeed, including delivering the Five Star Experience.
  • Oversee daily payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage the design, implementation, and administration of payroll and certified payroll reporting.
  • Develop and implement departmental payroll policies and procedures.
  • Improve processes for accuracy and efficiency aligned with company strategies.
  • Ensure timely submission of local, state, and federal tax reporting and deductions.
  • Maintain compliance with wage and hour regulations.
  • Support payroll system controls, employment taxes, labor laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Audit and enhance payroll procedures, including earnings, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Assist with insurance renewals, claims, certificates, budget planning, and risk management.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics and department goals.
  • Maintain confidential employee and payroll records securely.
  • Coordinate audits with internal, state, federal, HR, and external entities.
  • Prepare payroll accounting entries and reports.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and external vendors on audits.
  • Ensure tax reconciliation, filing, and W-2 issuance are accurate and timely.
  • Maintain effective communication with leadership.
  • Balance payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Understand forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, and cost controls.
  • Prepare data for budgeting and monitor actual results, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and local competition.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Supervise training and development of staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Internal Control Standards (MICS and TICS).
  • Represent the organization positively to guests and vendors.
  • Follow safety policies, attend safety meetings, and undergo training.
  • Make fair and honest decisions.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage all employees of the Payroll Department, adhering to policies, procedures, and laws. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business, finance, or accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight (8) years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Ten (10) years of payroll operations experience.
  • Experience with public works, Oracle HRIS, construction, or commercial contracting is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCP, CBP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.
  • Obtain Tribal Gaming License and other applicable certifications/licenses.
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. within 72 hours of employment.
Physical Demands

Regularly talk and hear; frequently stand, walk, sit; occasionally use hands, reach, climb, stoop, bend, push, pull, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl. Lift up to 10 lbs., push/pull up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. May work in low light or noisy environments.

Work Environment
  • Multiple locations, some open 24/7, requiring flexibility.
  • Availability for emergency calls, weekends, and holidays.
  • Some facilities are gaming, may not be smoke-free.
  • Surveillance cameras record activity 24/7.
