Our client is a forward-thinking public-sector entity is seeking a dynamic Director of Workforce Development to lead and evolve comprehensive workforce initiatives across the region. This position is responsible for designing, managing, and scaling programs that connect job seekers with meaningful employment while supporting local industries' talent needs. The role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of labor market dynamics, workforce policy, and cross-sector collaboration.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Strategic Planning & Program Execution

  • Design and implement long-term workforce strategies that align with regional economic priorities and emerging employment trends.

  • Manage and ensure compliance with federal and state workforce programs, including those funded under WIOA and other related initiatives.

  • Expand access to career advancement opportunities through training, upskilling, apprenticeships, and employment programs.

  • Strengthen alignment with vocational and technical education providers to support skills development for diverse populations.

Business & Industry Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison to employers to identify current and future workforce needs and craft responsive talent development solutions.

  • Build and lead partnerships across key industry sectors such as healthcare, information technology, logistics, manufacturing, and food innovation.

  • Connect employers with workforce tools and incentives, including customized training and recruitment programs.

Partnership Development & Community Engagement

  • Cultivate strategic alliances with academic institutions, training organizations, and community-based partners.

  • Coordinate services with workforce centers and regional agencies to ensure cohesive and inclusive service delivery.

  • Focus on increasing workforce participation among underrepresented groups, including youth, individuals with disabilities, and those displaced from employment.

Policy Oversight & Operational Management

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of workforce programs in accordance with applicable regulations and funding guidelines.

  • Manage budgets, grants, and reporting processes, ensuring transparent and effective use of resources.

  • Leverage labor market intelligence and performance data to guide program improvements and strategic adjustments.

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead a team of workforce professionals, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Direct operations at workforce centers to ensure high-quality experiences for both job seekers and employers.

  • Encourage innovative practices and technologies that enhance service accessibility and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as workforce development, public policy, education, or business.

  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in workforce or economic development, with a strong background in program design, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance.

  • Demonstrated success in managing cross-sector initiatives and aligning workforce services with labor market demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Experience working within public workforce systems or nonprofit organizations.

  • Familiarity with digital workforce platforms, labor market analytics, and performance-based program evaluation.
