Director of Training & Outreach, Bureau of Tuberculosis Control

The Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is seeking a Director of Outreach & Training. The unit director will become part of the Executive Team and will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner. The unit director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the strategic vision and goals of the Training and Outreach unit. The Director will supervise two units, two-unit Directors, and an increased number of line staff. The Director will be required to liaise with more external partners and stakeholders including the Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute Center of Excellence, New York State Department of Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Director will oversee various initiatives and bureau events including WTBD, BW & grant funded opportunities. Duties will include but not be limited to: Direct the design and analysis of active tuberculosis (TB) and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) research projects focused on community and provider outreach to effectively inform community health profiles. Present research findings at national conferences, engaging with peers and stakeholders, and take an active role in driving the development of new research initiatives. Lead and oversee two program units including the Education and Training Unit and Outreach Unit. Oversee and direct provider and community outreach efforts in collaboration with the Director of Outreach. Oversee and direct staff education, training, and professional development initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Education and Training. Oversee and co-lead the strategic vision and goals of the Coalition for a TB-Free NYC in collaboration with the Director of Outreach and Co-Chairs of the Coalition. Oversee collaboration efforts with the Division Rapid Response Operations for BTBC. Liaise with the Bureau of Public Health TB Clinics on staff education and provider education initiatives. Liaise with the Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute Center of Excellence to plan webinars, conferences, and other educational events. Oversee and direct the training of CDC Public Health Associate Program participants assigned to Training and Outreach to ensure completion of training requirements. Oversee the preparation and completion of ongoing Training and Outreach progress reports for the DOHMH Division of Disease Control, the Centers for Disease Control, and New York State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Prepare and present Training and Outreach updates at the BTBC Bureau Update meetings. Conduct written and oral presentations on the work of Training and Outreach at local, regional, and national conferences and meetings. Serve as the NYC DOHMH BTBC liaison to the CDC TB ETN-PEN Network - Co-Lead the Wellness Committee programming for BTBC. Participate in initiatives as directed by the Assistant Commissioner.

Qualifications

1. For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health. To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have: 1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or 2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above. NOTE: Probationary Period Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
