Overview

The NYC Department of Social Services is seeking a Director for the Office of Business Strategies & Solutions (OBSS). This role involves overseeing the development and enhancement of automated systems supporting various program areas, managing staff and projects, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the principal advisor on all technology and system-related issues, representing CAS in planning, development, and implementation of integrated systems.
  • Manage CAS's OBSS team, directing multiple projects related to system development, redesign, and maintenance.
  • Develop strategic plans to align operational and automated systems with programmatic goals.
  • Ensure quality control of systems, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
  • Implement state-of-the-art solutions across multiple platforms and devices, ensuring responsive design and automation.
  • Provide final sign-off on functional specifications and evaluate staff performance.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Master's degree in computer science with three years of relevant IT experience, including at least 18 months in a managerial or executive role, or
    • Baccalaureate degree with four years of relevant experience, or
    • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience, with at least three years in a managerial capacity, or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience meeting the above criteria.
    Preferred Skills
    • Experience managing complex case management and tracking systems.
    • Ability to translate business strategies into detailed execution plans.
    • Strong relationship-building skills across agency and external partners.
    • Experience overseeing system implementation with vendors and project management.
    Additional Information

    This position is open to qualified persons with a disability under the 55-a Program. Residency in NYC is not required. The salary range is $81,083 to $138,793 annually.
